COB (Chip-on-Board) represents a major innovation in LED display technology. Its biggest difference from traditional SMD (Surface-Mounted Device) lies in the packaging method. Traditional SMD packages each LED chip into an individual lamp bead, which is then soldered one by one onto the circuit board. In contrast, COB directly encapsulates hundreds and thousands of tiny LED chips onto the entire circuit board, forming a continuous and smooth luminous surface.
This transition from point light source to area light source endows COB displays with a range of core advantages, making them especially suitable for high-end indoor applications.
